Bizzy x Cruise
Perfect on time, we noticed the season of Bizzy on October 17, 2006. This time also everything was very exciting because we were still waiting for the official hipscore of our number 1 chosen studdog. Health is extreme important to us, so we will never do a mating without official hipscore result. The owner of this studdog told us also she was leaving for a big dogshow in the USA and would not be back for 1 week so we were very afraid we had to switch our plans. But exactly one day before she left, the hipresult arrived and it was good! All we could do now was hoping, Bizzy would wait with standing till the owner arrived back home and she listened.
On Monday October 23, we went to the vet for the first time for bloodtesting. Because of the low level, we went again on Thursday October 26, Saturday October 28 and Sunday October 29. At the end on Sunday, the level of progesterone was going up in such a way we could plan the mating within 48 hours. Again we had some problems, because we were planning to travel to Hull or Newcastle but all ferries were fully booked for Monday evening. So at the end we decided to travel on Monday afternoon to Calais/Dover and then drive the car up all the way to Scotland. Late in the evening on Monday we arrived halfway where thankfully we could stay with co-breeder Nat of Bryning Border Collies for a short but good sleep. The next morning, pretty early, we left for the final part (again 5 hours) drive to Scotland (between Inverness and Fort William) where we eventually arrived around 1 PM. Thankfully the mating with Pikkupaimenen Great Pretender at Locheil (Cruise) was not a problem at all, so we did not do all the work for nothing. After a short night, the next morning at 7 they did another mating so after about 1 hour we could leave for the long trip back to Holland (we arrived finally at 3 AM the next morning...)
Counting from the first mating, the expected day of birth of this outstanding and so much wanted litter will be around January 1, 2007.
Due strict agreements with the breeder/owner of Cruise, there will be NO puppies available for breeding purposes (except ofcourse the ones we are going to keep ourselves). Ofcourse they all will be very suitable for any kind of dogsport like herding, agility, flyball, obedience and showing.
It is always nerveswracking till the moment we can be sure that this long trip will lead to a success. So finally on November 28, 2006 (day 28 counted from the first mating) we went to the vet for an ultrasound. Bizzy was not showing much signs of any pregnancy but thankfully we could see right away several filles amnion sacks. According to the vet we should at least expect 6 puppies to be born, but we just have to wait now till the moment they will be delivered (only 5 weeks to go...).
Twee weeks to go
The final 2 weeks have arrived before we can meet the very special content of the belly of Bizzy. As can be seen on the pictures, at this moment she is not very willing to share this with us, because her belly is not growing very fast. When she is standing we can easily see on the side her belly is getting bigger so it seems she is carrying the puppies very high which does not say anything at all about the amount of puppies and their weight. With Christmas she will come home to live with us but at this moment she is still being very much spoiled by my sister and her husband.
Bizzy has been home since Christmasday where we try to wait patiently till the delivery will start. The big question is ofcourse: will the puppies be born this year or do we have to wait till next year.....
