Wish x Sunny
A couple of weeks later than expected, Wish finally started her season on May 26, 2007. We are very lucky that the studdog of our choice, Sunny, is on holiday at this moment with a co-breeder in Belgium so we didn't have to travel that far for the mating. On Monday June 4, 2007 we went to the vet for the first bloodtesting and we were surprised to become the high result of 4.3. Based on our experience with bloodtesting, this would mean Wish should be ready to be mated about 2 days later. So on Wednesday June 6, 2007 we drove up to Belgium for the mating with Sunny. But after our arrival, both suppose to be lovebirds were not interested at all in each other and were not willing to do a mating. After some incouragement from our site which did not help at all, we drove back home. The next morning we went to the vet again for a bloodtest, and this time the level was only 2.3. The vet had to admit they most likely made a mistake with the first bloodtest and that both Wish and Sunny were absolutely right saying the time was not there yet. We did another bloodtest on Saturday and Monday and Monday late afternoon we got the result of 14, meaning the mating has to be done now. So Wish and I took off to Belgium again where this time both Wish and Sunny agreed the bloodtest was right, which resulted in a good mating followed by a 15 minutes during tie. On June 12, 2007 (Wish birthday) she was mated for the second time, so all we can do now is wait for the first signs of a pregnancy to show up.
Counting from the first mating, the expected day of birth of this brilliant litter will be around August 12, 2007.
We were that convinced (already way before 4 weeks pregnancy) Wish was carrying puppies and the fact the last 2 ultrasounds with other bitches of ours showed us a total different amount than have been born (6-7 on the ultrasound, 3 puppies after birth) we have decided not to go for an ultrasound this time. The picture underneath has been taken at almost 6 weeks pregnancy and you can easily see, we are absolutely right with our feeling!
Final 2 weeks
It is hard to imagine Wish is only pregnant for 7 weeks, she is so extreme heavy already. Our pity with her is growing every day, in about the same speed as her big belly. When we did send the picture of her to a friend breeder, she thought she had only a few days left instead of 2 weeks! Let's hope it is just lots of fluid.......
The last week
Big, bigger, biggest: we don't know what the correct term is to describe the status of Wish at this moment. She is having a harder time every day now, especially with the hot weather of the last 2 days. Ofcourse we have started with the ritual of taking her temperature three times a day so we can probably predict the beginning of the delivery..
